Definition of RSS data feeds
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0) and is a type of web feed used for receiving and distributing content such as news articles. RSS allows web users to aggregate news stories from a variety of sources, and easily view them through an application especially developed for the purpose. The news aggregator program called a feed reader or a news reader is considered a more efficient way of organising, reviewing and consuming a large number of stories from a variety of sources, and possibly covering a wide range of themes.
Web feeds usually make news and other content available in HTML format (web page content) or else as links to web pages that feature the original (full) article. Often the source website will provide web feeds to notify users of content updates, which contain summaries of the article rather than the full content itself.
Web feeds are offered by many news web sites, the major search engines, blogs, schools, and pod-casters.
