Search engine news

It's estimated that there are currently approximately 63 billion web pages that have been indexed by search engines. The number increases by thousands every day, and this makes the role of search engines more important than most people could have foreseen in the earliest days of the World Wide Web. Search engines have become our internet tour guides, our window into the billions of pages that exist, and in terms of web search market share, there is one tour guide that stands head and shoulders above the rest: Google. Google is clearly the world’s most well known (and most used) search engine, but there are many others that also provide an indispensable service to millions of internet users. Yahoo comes in second, then MSN in terms of popularity. Ask and AOL claw their way into the lower usage slots, but Google truly dominates the search engine world.
