Online businesses to become more 'citizen centric'
With broadband internet becoming an increasingly important part of people's everyday lives, online businesses need to become more citizen centric if they are to meet the demands of their technologically-savvy consumers.
This is according to ntl:Telewest, which says that in recent years broadband internet has radically changed the way Britons manage their lives both inside and outside of the office.
Recent research from the communications provider suggests that new commercial broadband services set to be introduced in 2007 will make it an increasingly requisite technology among the general public.
As a result businesses need to improve their online offerings in order to engage with consumers. This will include interactive technologies such as digital marketing and blogging, says ntl:Telewest.
John Cunningham, director of business markets at the company, said: "During 2006 businesses and the public sector have been developing interactive services that are based on broadband technology which will make it easier for end users to interact with them.
"In some instances, usage of these services has been limited, however that will all change in 2007 as organisations seek to leverage their investment and make online services a key part of every day life."
