Google AdWords customers test new radio ads service
Search engine giant Google is to branch out into US radio advertising.
Google revealed that it has started a beta test of its new radio advertising system with a limited number of its google adwords customers.
Eventually, the system will allow internet marketing professionals to buy radio adverts on the internet alongside search engine advertising.
The firm acquired the technology for the new Google Audio Ads service when it acquired dMarc Broadcasting earlier this year for the sum of $102 million, which was then built into its already-existing AdWords system.
Google said that the customers targeted in the test had already begun advertising on the radio and that it had teamed up with hundreds of radio stations covering several hundred locations.
"Google Audio Ads brings efficiency, accountability, and enhanced ROI to radio advertising by providing advertisers with an online interface for creating and launching radio campaigns," wrote Josh M in Google's official blog.
"You'll be able to target your customers by location, station type, day of the week, and time of day. After the radio ads are run, you will be able to view online reports that tell you exactly when your ad played."
Google said that it had not yet set a date for the product's release to a wider audience.
