Business sites 'need to be improved'
Many firms are not improving their site's functionality, despite investing in drawing web users to them, according to an expert.
Seth Rosenblatt, vice-president of business development at Optimost, said that while businesses are spending money on emerging technologies, their actual site can still present problems.
He highlighted the investment in marketing with online keywords as a positive move to boost a firm's online presence, although he stated that the site had to be improved to make the operation worthwhile.
Mr Rosenblatt told IT Week: "Firms are spending a lot of money on search engine optimisation.
"But, when they get customers to their web sites, the site itself becomes the bottleneck.”
Optimost will be among the participants at next month's Technology for Marketing show, where it will make recommendations on how a company can improve its business.
The event is being aimed at businesses with problems getting a good return on investing in online advertising solutions.
