Search Engine Marketing

What can optimised metadata do for my site?

At Momentum, we see the process of refining metadata as a worthwhile exercise for two reasons:

1: It helps search engines to identify the most important keyword phrases on every single page.
2: It encourages the close evaluation of each page’s content, and identifies where copy needs to be focused.

It isn't unusual to find that refining a site's metadata not only improves the focus of each page, but also improves the quality of the copy and the user experience – for example, one side effect of the metadata and corresponding content refinement is the end of very long pages with lots of different keyword themes. This is bad for search engine optimisation and often bad for user experience too.
