If you want to ensure that as many people can use your site as possible, then yes, accessibility is very important. Websites that are coded with accessibility in mind are able to be read by software designed to help visually impaired people navigate and use websites. At the most basic level, these readers use page text and the "alt" descriptions placed behind images to read out the content on a web page.
